Benzonase Nuclease is derived from Serratia Marcescens and modified by genetic engineering. It is able to degrade all forms of (double-stranded, single-stranded, linear, circular) DNA and RNA under a very wide range of conditions (6 M Urea, 0.1 M Guanidine HCl, 0.4% Triton X-100, 0.1% SDS, 1 mM EDTA, 1 mM PMSF). It fully digests the nucleic acids into 5' -monophosphate oligonucleotides 3 to 8 base lengths. Benzonase Nuclease is designed to remove contaminants from protein products.
This product can be used in combination with a variety of cell bacterial lysates to remove nucleic acids in crude extracts, reduce solution viscosity and increase protein yield.
